About Jo

Jo is based in Reigate, Surrey, from where she runs a private practice Psychology Consultancy for Sport and Personal Development. Jo works with individuals, teams, and groups via both face to face meetings and online consultations. Her mission is to help people to develop their self-understanding, psychological wellbeing, and mindset strategies to thrive within their environment. Jo is passionate about helping people reach their goals, however big or small.

Jo has experience of providing psychology input across a broad spectrum of sport contexts, from grassroot juniors to professional and world-class athletes. She currently works alongside multiple elite sport programmes: The Army Target Shooting and Army Boxing Teams; The Army Elite Athlete Performance Centre; TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) – multiple sports; AASE athletics (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) – Athletics. She routinely delivers practical workshops and courses in schools and colleges; and supports sport scholars at several universities (University of Surrey; London School of Economics). Jo has also delivered Psychology and Sport Psychology modules, and continues to guest lecture, at undergraduate/masters level.

Jo is a Chartered Sport & Exercise Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and working under their code of conduct. Jo’s professional qualifications include BSc/MSc degrees in Psychology and Sport Psychology respectively, Post-graduate Chartership as a BPS Psychologist; alongside significant continued professional development in Life Coaching, Counselling, Mental Health First Aid, and specific psychological therapies.

Whilst initially embarking on a career within sport, Jo now regularly supports people in many other personal development settings. This includes helping teenagers and young adults to develop life strategies to manage areas such as exam pressure; low self-esteem; balancing sport/education demands; adjusting to university life; or making career decisions. Jo also works with adults who are experiencing life challenges or stress and looking to make positive changes, as well as helping clients to flourish in high-performance settings, from corporates, to entrepreneurs, to performing arts.

Jo’s own sporting background lies in equestrian. She understands first-hand the demands of performing under pressure, having represented Great Britain in the showjumping and dressage student team internationally as an undergraduate, including the World University Equestrian Games. Jo has a passion for all things active, and in her spare time can generally be found riding, running, outdoor fitness classes, and occasionally surfing!
